WINDOWS MOBILE DIGITAL DICTATION
BigHand Digital Dictation
BigHand Mobile (Windows Mobile Edition) enables your users to dictate or send voice instructions while out-of-the office, on the move, using their Windows-based smartphone. BigHand Mobile (Windows Mobile Edition) has an easy to use interface which enjoys the benefits of touch screen support. The application is also ‘orientation aware’ which means that you can use it whether you prefer the horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait) screen orientation. No matter what your task is, you have full control of the interface which is enhanced by support for multiple resolutions.

BENEFITS FOR PROFESSIONALS
Ergonomic considerations: Authors who are constantly on the move may wish to avoid proliferation of their portable devices. The Mobility Suite enables authors to use whichever mobile device they prefer to carry. Organisations can make significant savings by providing users with one device instead of two.

Productivity and turnaround: The author can send dictations in, from practically anywhere, to be routed via the BigHand workflow to a transcriber or team. With no time lost in transit, the dictations are transcribed sooner, and at a more even and predictable pace, thus reducing your document turnaround times.

Cost effectiveness: BigHand also recognises that budget constraints on your business can be difficult to balance with the need for exciting new technology, and thus provides predictable pricing and subscription options for BigHand Mobile to suit your cash flow.

HOW WINDOWS MOBILE DICTATION WORKS
The author interacts with the touchscreen or keypad to record a dictation, select a workflow (optional), and sends it for transcription. BigHand components on the authors network identify the sender to BigHand3 and then submit the dictation to the chosen (or default) workflow on behalf of the sender. The author can also view their 'work in progress' on the device.

WINDOWS COMMUNICATION FOUNDATION
BigHand Mobile (Windows Mobile Edition) is one of the first commercial applications to take advantage of the extension of Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) to the mobile platform enabled by the release of .Net v3.5. This enables devices running BigHand Mobile (Windows Mobile Edition) to act as first class clients within the BigHand Digital Dictation system, fully integrated alongside the traditional desk top client.

WCF is Microsoft’s unified programming model for building service-oriented applications and it enables BigHand developers to build secure, reliable, transacted solutions for clients that integrate across platforms and interoperate with existing investments. There are also no questionmarks about what happens if the connection is lost; the dictation will stay in the device’s outbox until the device synchronises with Exchange and sends the email. This use of offline queuing is in line with Microsoft’s recommended best practice for data transfer on mobile platforms. BigHand’s popular and widely tested Email Gateway component provides the link from the Exchange to the BigHand server components.
